or the Coor'at  ("pride") Troupe - A project for developing talents in the arts

The Coor'at Troupe is comprised of 45 adolescent members of Be'er Sheva's Ethiopian community. The group meets after school to participate in cultural activities such as theater and dance to develop young talent among adolescents at risk. This project empowers, develops and builds self-confidence, improving and reinforcing healthy behaviors. 
 

BEN-GURION UNIVERSITY OF THE NEGEV

 for the Larry Goodman Family Administration Building for Engineering Sciences

The University, established in 1969, is a major center for teaching and research with more than 20,000 students enrolled in its prestigious programs. More than 6,000 students areenrolled in a   variety of engineering disciplines, some unique to BGU.

 for the Lillian and Larry Goodman Open Apartments Program

For the past 32 years, the Open Apartments Program has provided students rent-free housing in  exchange for community service. Currently 63 apartments are included in the program with plans to expand to 75 apartments within the year. The program was recently renamed after the Foundation recommitted for 10 more years. CITY OF BE'ER-SHEVA

for the Lillian and Larry Goodman Bat Dor Dance School and expansion

Attracting students from all over the world, Bat-Dor is home to more than 350 students and is recognized for producing exceptional dancers.

In the spring of 2013, Bat-Dor will open its new built second floor named the Cebrin Goodman House for Kamea Dance Company. This new practice space is named after the Goodman’s granddaughter Cebrin, who was a gifted dancer.

for the Be'er Sheva North - Ben Gurion University Railway Station

The northern train station provides university students, faculty, and guests with direct access to campus from all over Israel. Opening this spring, the high speed rail will run between Be’er-sheva and Tel Aviv in only 45 minutes.

for the Lillian and Larry Goodman Be'er-Sheva Child and Family Center and expansion

As the leading service social service provider in the Negev, the Center has been offering therapeutic, prevention, and intervention programs since 2004. To fulfill a need for more space, the Foundation funded an expansion to the Center in 2011.

for the Lillian and Larry Goodman City Park

Situated in the heart of the city, the Park’s three strip design integrating water, wood, and greenery, is intended to become a new and iconic image for the city—a modern oasis and developing metropolis.

for the Goodman Dorot Dance Studio

Located at Meakief Gimmel High School, the studio holds traditional dance classes and professional workshops for students in Be’er-Sheva. An additional gift made in 2011 provided Dorot with expanded dressing room facilities.

for the L & L Goodman Theater and Acting School of the Negev

As the only performing arts school in the southern region of Israel, “the Goodman” offers professional performing arts education enabling students to create innovative and vibrant productions to enrich the cultural repertoire in the city.

Additonal grants support the Monologue Theatre named in memory of Lillian Goodman and for a costumes and props storage facility.

for the Ilan Ramon Play Park

Commemorating Israel’s first astronaut, this colorful jungle gym, designed in a spaceship motif, provides free, fun entertainment to neighborhood children.

for the INBAL Ilyse Lopatin Center and building expansion

In May of 2008, the Goodman Child and Family Center added a second floor to include the INBAL Center; a treatment facility for children and adults who have suffered sexual abuse. In 2011 the Foundation committed to expanding the INBAL to house eight new therapy rooms.

for general operating support Kamea Dance Company

In affiliation with Bat Dor, Kamea is a professional dance troupe that tours extensively around Israel and the world. In 2011, the Foundation committed to building a second floor addition to be recognized as the Cebrin Goodman Home of Kamea Dance Company. 

for the Rambam Play Park

Intersecting three of the city’s neighborhoods, this play park provides recreational activities including handball and basketball courts.

ISRAEL DEFENSE FORCES

for the IDF Exercise Room at Hatzerim Air Force Base

Conditioning is top priority for pilots, mechanics, and support crew; in partnership with Chicago Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, the exercise room is part of a multi-purpose sports center.

for the IMPACT! Scholarship Program at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev

Providing educational scholarships to former Israeli combat soldiers, recipients are required to complete 130 hours of community service for each year of their scholarship.

for a Torah at House of Golani

As a club house and rest stop for soldiers traveling through Be’er Sheva, soldiers used to borrow a Torah from a nearby synagogue to pray. They now have their very own equipped “synagogue.”

for the Critical Care Bed Station

The Critical Care Bed Station provides comfort and safety for patients recovering from serious medical conditions.

SOROKA HOSPITAL

for new cardiology equipment

the cardiac electrophysiology lab radiology and navigation systems provide top level service for its cardiac care patients.

for the Saban Pediatric Hospital Outpatient Wing Patio

The remodeled wing grants more privacy for patients and family, houses 16 rooms for clinics shared by 19 specialties, and a playground to be known as the Lillian and Larry Goodman Patio.

for the World ORT Kav-Or program

This in-hospital program provides ongoing educational resources for children who are patients in the pediatric oncology unit. This minimizes disruption to their schooling while undergoing treatment.
